Goodbye

I forced my lips to open,

And utter a word I feared.

I heard myself speak

And yet as I looked into your eyes,

I knew that my heart did not feel

What I had uttered.

And as my feet stayed firmly planted on the floor,

I realised I could not turn away

From those deep brown eyes.

You see,

It wasn’t saying goodbye to you that was difficult,

It was convincing my heart to leave too.
